Convectec™ all-convection heaters are designed to heat materials that are sensitive to overheating due to high film temperatures. These heaters are used extensively by oil and gas producers. They are also suitable for other applications and industry use.

Overview

Convectec is the brand name for our all-convection heaters. We designed these heaters to heat materials that are sensitive to overheating due to high film temperatures. The heater avoids high film temperatures by exposing its heating coils only to heat energy borne in convection gases. Thus, the coils are not exposed to radiant energy produced by its burner flame. Accordingly the film temperature of the materials flowing through its coils will not exceed its bulk temperature more than 5 degrees F.

These heaters are used extensively by oil and gas producers and are ideal for crude oil processing. They are also suitable for use by producers of petrochemicals, chemicals, food and by others. Outputs range from 2 to 100 million Btu/Hour.

Heatec Convectec™ Heater Features

The Convectec heater uses a burner that fires into an insulated combustion chamber. The burner flame extends only a limited distance into the chamber. The hot gases produced by the burner flame travel into the bottom of the heat exchanger housing, in a zone where there are no heat transfer coils. The gases are diverted upwards through the top section of the heat exchanger housing, which contains heat transfer coils (process bundles). The gases pass around the coils and heat the coils by convection.

A portion of the gases exit the heater through the exhaust stack. A set amount of the gases is recirculated back to the combustion chamber where they are mixed with the freshly heated gases being produced by the flame.

Heatec Convectec™ Heater Efficiency

A portion of the flue gases get pulled through recirculation ducting by a recirculation fan. The hot gases get recirculated back to the combustion chamber where they are mixed with freshly heated gases being produced by the flame.

Recirculating the gases more than doubles the efficiency of the heater and significantly reduces the amount of NOx (emissions) that exits the exhaust stack. Thermal efficiencies up to 90% (LHV) can be achieved. The amount of gases recirculated limits the temperature and amount of radiation produced by the burner.
